Week 1 News

L.T. and Edge Out of the Season!

Cincinnati,OH – Newly acquired RB Edgerrin James suffered a torn ACL during the blowout loss to the Broncos this past week. Doctors have ruled that he will be unable to play the rest of the season. Coach Jay Bishop was quoted as saying, “this some ole’ bullshit” when asked about the string of bad luck the Bengals have had just after one game.
Indianapolis, IN — L.T. is heading for the I.R. with a Concussion. On a dive up the middle against the Oakland Raiders, Tomlinson was injured in a helmet to helmet collision with Raiders DT Gerard Warren. Tomlinson was diagnosed with a “Severe Concussion” and team doctors have ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
T.O. Lashes Out, Threatens to Leave for AGCFL
ORCHARD PARK, NY– Bills WR Terrell Owens sobbed openly following a heartbreaking loss in Foxboro, Wednesday night. The 6′3″ receiver finished with just two catches for 33 yards. The 36-year old, pointed fingers at Bills coaches for lack of creativity, and threatened to leave for the All-Games Canadian Football League if things didn’t improve.

Leftwich Benched
TAMBA BAY, FL — After a 4 interception performance in Tampa Bay’s crushing opening day defeat to the Dallas Cowboys, Byron Leftwich has been benched. Leftwich was replaced midway through the 4th quarter in favor of Kansas State rookie Josh Freeman. Freeman’s only offensive series culminated in Tampa Bay’s only offensive touchdown of the game.
Moore Makes Case to be Steelers Number Two
MANSFIELD, PA — Despite Steelers rookie running back Rashard Mendenhall being named as back-up running back, Mewelde Moore made his case for the job in Week One’s game against the Titans. Moore had 12 yards on 7 rushes with 1 TD, but that TD ran showed what he can do for the team as their back-up.
However, a trade is on the table that could send Moore to Seattle. Only time will tell. Parker rushed for 124 yards and 1 TD but only played one snap in the 2nd half.

How we are handling “no shows”
by chrisphil1724 on Aug.19, 2009, under Madden OF Rules
We’ve all been there, you setup a time for your game and the person your playing just doesn’t show up. Maybe they forgot or couldn’t make it. So how are we going to handle this when it happens in the AGNFL. By booting the player who didn’t show up!
Let’s say agn is playing VaRaces in week 3. agn and VaRaces can’t pick a time to play during the week so they decide to play on league night. League Night is every Sunday at 9pm EST / 6 PM PST, is when ALL non-played human vs human games must be play. VaRaces is online and ready to play however, agn is no where to be found. If the league GM hasn’t already contacted VaRaces about it, as the GM should be online every League Night, VaRaces should contact the GM and tell him the agn didn’t show. At this point, the GM will boot agn from the league. This will let VaRaces play the CPU in agn’s place. VaRaces has 24 hours to play the CPU or the game will be simmed. Then, at the beginning of week 4, agn will be re-invited to the league.
In the case BOTH players simply can’t find a way to play each other the game will be simmed and the result of that sim will be final. The AGNFL sims to the next week Tuesday mornings.
Madden OF FAQ
by chrisphil1724 on Aug.15, 2009, under Madden OF FAQ
Q. Why does the league cost $10 to join? How do I pay?
A. Your $10 entry fee insures that the league will be able to pay-out all prize winners and will help with the overall cost of managing the league. You can pay by way of PayPal.
Q. Who gets to pick their team first?
A. New players will select their teams on a first pay, first pick bases. Players from the 2008 AGNFL will have the right to retain their team for the upcoming season.
Q. Wait, You said this is not a true “Sim League” does that mean I can glitch, go for it on 4th down and run the same play over and over again!?
A. No! Are you stupid? Glitches are in Madden every year and things like the HB Snap Glitch from Madden 09 will be prohibited in the league. All glitches and actions that maybe deemed “unsportsmanlike” are prohibited. Running the same play over and over again and going for it on 4th down is unsportsmanlike. GMs will let the league know of actions deemed as a “glitch” and will warn any player using them. This is true no matter if you’re playing the CPU or Human. Stats will be watched, box scores checked and if you are cheating, you will be removed.
Q. Why is the AGNFL not supporting a Salary Cap system?
A. After much consideration, we will not worry about salary caps until the first offseason. Consider Year 1 an uncapped year. It’s going to be challenging enough anyway, let alone worrying about a salary cap along the way.
Q. How will Free Agents work?
A. Simple, you may only pick-up one Free Agent a week during the season.
Q. How will trades work? Can we trade with CPU teams?
A. Trades work almost identical to the offline franchise mode and yes you can trade with the CPU teams WITH some exceptions. ALL trades between a player and a cpu MUST be submitted to the league GM. The GM can then accept, decline, or put the trade up-to vote.
Q. Will you have the NFL Drafts in online franchise?
A. Yes, at the end of each season, the NFL Draft is there for you to re-stock your talent with brand new rookie players.
Q. What about off-season Free Agency?
A. At the end of each season, all teams will be forced to drop 7% of there teams cap value to Free Agency.
Q. Are all my games going to be play against a human player?
A. No, from time to time you will be playing a CPU team. You may play those games whenever you like during the week.
Q. Who will setup my games against human teams?
A. Each week, the league GM will send out a message on XBL to everyone telling them who they are playing that week. After that, it’s up to you to setup the game. If you have not played your game by Sunday night, YOU MUST play your game at 9pm EST, 6pm PST on Sunday Night. If you don’t show up at that time you will lose the game.
Q. What will the gameplay settings be?
A. Basic gameplay settings will be set closer to kick-off of the season however they will be close to what you will see in a standard ranked match.
Q. You said the league would have live broadcast of select games, what do you mean by that?
A. Our League GMs (2 at this moment) have the ability to broadcast all games they play online using Justin.tv. Players can watch these games live or anytime after the game to scout for upcoming games or for entertainment. Check out AGNFL TV for our streams!

Code of Conduct
Players are requested to act in a sportsman like manner in the AGNFL. This is true on and off the field. Glitches and “unsportsmanlike” gameplay is prohibited. Unfair management of your team is also prohibited. All roster moves will be watched and if a roster move is made to give your team an unfair advantage over your opponent you will be removed from the league. An example of this would be signing a player you do not have the cap room to sign and playing a game over the league cap limit.
Disconnects/Restarting
Dropping from a game by quitting, turning off or unplugging your console is prohibited. If you drop from a game by accident it is up to your opponent to decide what they would like to do. We suggest they play the rest of the game vs. the CPU, however they may also not count the game and replay the game from the beginning.
You may not for any reason restart a game with the CPU. CPU opponents are to be treated like human opponents. ALL games that have been restarted against the CPU will be flagged and GMs will be able to see how many times the games were restarted. If you are flagged for a restart a GM WILL contacted you about the flagged game. If it happens multiple times, you will be docked a loss to your record.
Gameplay Rules and Guidelines
When an opponent is kicking (Punt, FG, or XPT) you are NOT allowed to line-shift, move any player, and/or MANUALLY BLOCK at anytime. If the computer comes in and blocks that’s fine however If you do MANUALLY BLOCK, your opponent will be awarded the points he/she would have received.
Use Of Hurry Up Offense – The use of the hurry offense after an incomplete pass will not be prohibited, however it maybe deemed unsportsmanlike if done excessively.
Onside Kicks – You may onside kick at anytime however, the use of onside kicks when ahead in a game maybe deemed unsportsmanlike if done excessively.
JUMP SNAP GLITCH – There is a way in the game to get the jump snap feature to work every single time, doing this is prohibited.
GOAL LINE OFFENSIVE PLAYS – Goal line offensive plays can be called at any time however unless it’s inside the five yard line on either side of the field it maybe deemed unsportsmanlike if done excessively. Please use other big or jumbo sets if you need to pick up a first down in short yardage situations.
Only substitute TE for other TE and FB. WR and HB may not play TE.
Free Agency Wire
After much consideration, we will not worry about salary caps until the first offseason. Season 1 will be an uncapped year. We will run this season the way I originally intended, and when we get to the offseason, we’ll hopefully by then have a very workable Salary Cap system in place.
What this means is that preseason free agency will follow a draft-like format, following what will be the initial Waiver Priority List. The list will be constructed by the team’s overall rating. Lowest team is first, highest is last.
I will be posting a thread dedicated to the preseason free agency draft soon. Each team will have 24 hours after the start of the OF to make a selection. When making a selection, you must indicate which player to release if you don’t have an available roster spot. If a team does not make a pick, we will move on to the next team. This “draft system” will go no longer than 3 rounds.
Each subsequent season’s beginning waiver priority list order will mimic what the NFL draft order was, minus any trades.
Trades
There are 2 types of trades. Player/Player trades and Player/CPU trades. The only rule about Player/Player trades is it may not put your team over the cap. Please check the spreadsheet before making a trade.
Player/CPU trades are very different. The CPU has no logic so they don’t know what trades are good or bad. However, the league does have logic. If you wish you trade with a CPU teams you must submit the trade to the GM. They will be the first people to look at the trade and if they believe it to be fair, they’ll put it to vote. They’ll send the trade info to 4 other random league members and the first 3 people to vote yes or no will have their vote counted. If 2 of the 3 vote yes, the trade will pass.
Players can only try ONE Player/CPU trade a week.
Prizes
Prizes will be awarded at the end of the season. The season champion and runner-up are receiving prizes. Prizes may also be awarded to the best regular season record, League MVP (Player), and Best Sportsmanship (Team/Owner) as voted on my the league.
None prize player awards will also be awarded.
